I have been in the industry for a few years now and always find myself asking whether attaining CPEng is worth it. It's not compulsory for the work that we do and not required for sign off of drawings, but I always thought it was the next logical step for my career to advance. When I first started working, there were rumours that they were going to make RPEQ compulsory for engineers and having CPEng would put you above everyone. To date though, nothing has happened so CPEng has lost its gloss. Plus the fact that the membership fees to Engineers Australia is ridiculous always puts me off. Would be interested to now other peoples thoughts. Does CPEng open doors or lead to higher wages?
